Salem, MA Day Trip and Night Tour

There is no way we could visit the North East and not see Salem, MA. It is one of the most historical cities that I can remember from school. Its past dates back to the early 1600s. The history in the town is amazing. I learned a lot during our walk around the area, but our night tour and visit to the Witch Dungeon Museum was the best education we could have asked for. It was fun to learn the history of the area without all of the influence of movies and media. Just information from documentation of Salem, Massachusetts past.

The Witch House of Salem, MA

There are still homes that was built during the 1600s located in the city. One of those homes is known as the Witch House of Salem. This home was owned by the judge during the witch trials. There is still relics from the era in the home. It is amazing to walk down the stairs that have been used for more than 400 years. The feeling inn the home gives a sense of creepy and complete amazement.

The Witch Dungeon Museum

The Witch Dungeon Museum was a fun experience for the family. It is a live reenactment of the Salem witch trial. The information in the reenactment is taken directly from the transcripts of the 1692 trial. After the trial you take a walk down some stairs to walk through the replicas of the small cells where the more than 200 people that were accused of being witches were held. There is also a replica of the main street and the gallows.

The young lady that was guiding us on our tour was so into her role. I know they are taught about the history of the witch trials, but she portrayed it in a way that kept you interested. She made you want to listen and learn about the history. Even if it was an act, you felt like she was enjoying her position to teach others about the amazing history.

The set is a reproduction of the history of the Salem Witch Trials, but the building itself is beautiful. You can see that it was a part of a church. Looking into it I think it was built in the 1800s and was a chapel. There is a piece of the original cells in the basement of the museum, and it is shown during the tour.

The Salem, MA Ghost Tour

We took a Ghost tour of Salem through Salemghosttours.com our guide was Bobby Kerrigan, and he was so much fun. Bobby made sure to keep people interested in the tour. We went in July 2022 and he said it was the hottest day on record for Salem. Even though it was so hot, he did not slack of on showing us everything on the tour. You could see the passion in the stories Bobbie shared on the Ghost tour. Unfortunately, we did not see any ghosts on the tour, but the education of the tour was well worth the money we spent. I would go on the tour again just for the enjoyment.

We had so much fun in Salem. I wish we had more than a day to do more tours and see more of the museums. We were on a tight budget for time and money, but had a great time and learned a lot about the Salem witch trials and the history of Salem, MA.
